Kinivo BTC review: Add hands-free calling, wireless music to cars - CNET

I went through multiple competing products before finally settling on this one. This one connects reliably, has good audio quality and doesn't talk to you when it turns on. It also doesn't have horribly bright flashing lights or other annoying features.

If what you are looking for is a simple to setup, easy to use, reliable Bluetooth receiver than just get this one and skip a headache. Set it in your car and forget it. I placed mine in the middle of the car by the center console and it picks up voice audio well without having to run wires. Competing products I tried had sentences of connection instructions every time the car turned on or a device connected. Others had horrible flashing lights or bad audio quality. Awesome product. The cords are long enough to route in the center console easily.

It launches Google assistant with a double tap of the multi-function button. The phone shaped led stays on and doesn't blink like the btc model does. Not too bright or distracting at night.

Automatically connects to phone consistently and turns on automatically once it receives power, but also has the option to power off with a long press of the multi-function button.

See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. So I bought this as it was abit more expensive that most on here but, the reviews of this were great compared to the cheaper unit's and I actually found some YouTube videos on this as well which helped me to choose it. When it turned up I went out and installed it, all of 2 minutes thank's to there being a 12v socket in the arm rest next to the Aux Input.

Opened up the bluetooth options on my Huawei Mate 10 Pro and it found and connected to it with no issues. Opened the music app on my phone and started playing some music and it played ok, sound quality is very good although there is abit of a hiss at louder volumes which I am trying to determine at the moment if it's the speakers or the adapter but it won't be hard to figure out. Either way I am very happy as it's saved me some money and even though it's in a closed arm rest and the phone is to the side of the steering wheel, there is no issues with connectivity other than the one my phone gives where it randomly disconnects, which I know is my phone because it does the same on my bluetooth headphones.

If you have a car without bluetooth but it has a Aux in then this is a decent purchase if you don't want to change the head unit. Easily recommended. This review is for the btc Worth noting that most of the reviews here are for the btc So worth checking more closely on the reviews. Installed on a BMW 3 series 07 , with aux point in centre arm rest. The length of the cables allowed me to route all the wiring out of view from the centre arm rest the dash, so it does look built in.

Connected each time with my iPhone with no issues. No interference, so no need for a separate isolator. Sound quality over music is very good. Seems strange given that the btc is supposed to be an upgrade? Call quality is also very good both in the car and reports are good from people calling me or receiving a call from me. A few other reviews have reported that there is a big volume difference between music and calls.

I did have an issue with this initially but it seems this was a problem with my iPhone rather than the device, so suspect that maybe true for others. Just need to ensure that call volume is set to high on the phone and then control the volume on the car speakers. For some reason at first the call volume on my iPhone kept defaulting to a low volume with each call, but after a reboot of the phone this resolved it.

Also other reviews have reported an annoying beep from the device in between music tracks, again I did experience this initially as well as a beep when using google maps after every audio nagvigation alert. Again it seems this was an issue with the phone rather than device as after rebooting the phone, the beeps disappeared.

The buttons on the device all work well, including two short presses to activate Siri on the iPhone, allowing you to control your phone by voice. The only reason I have made this four stars and not 5, is that the device only occasionally turns on automatically when I start the car. Most of the of the time after starting the car I then have turn the device on manually by pressing the multi function button.

But despite the one issue mentioned above I would really recommend this device. Also when contacting kinivo customer service via their website chat support they got back to me straight away and were very helpful. Images in this review. I'd expect longer than 3 months when a 2 year warranty offered. This is a great little device when it was new. Fitted it to my sons Mini Cooper as there was no conectivity for hands free phone. The ability to stream music was a bonus and it automatically pauses when a call is made or received.

The unit is small and discrete, I 3D printed a mount for it as the Mini dashboard is pretty busy and couldnt find anywhere suitable so made a cup holder adaptor for it and this also provided a stowage for the excess cabling from the device. There is a bifurcated cable hardwired to the little magnetic control pad, one leg is to connect to a USB port or supplied cigarette lighter power supply for power and an audio jack to connect to the cars AUX-IN port.

Pairing with the phone is a 30 second affair and once set, it will automatically connect to the phone when entering the car and powering the ignition. It would have had 5 stars had it not died this week. A replacement has been received and I'm about to install it but if this one lasts a similar time, it'll be losing another couple of stars.

I owned a Kinivo previously and then I was in market for a bluetooth which supports 2 connections. I have tried 3 best rated bluetooths in amazon, all having some or the other issue ranging from ground noise or difference in loudness levels of media playback and voice calls therefore keep having to adjust the volume.

With this one, no issues as such, call quality is good, others also hear well, media playback is good, no ground noise or difference in level of loudness BUT one small issue. What a little gem. However, the BTC came to the rescue. I use this car for work so I need a reliable Bluetooth hands free kit and this works well. It also supports two phones which is even better the second phone connected becomes the primary phone for making calls, Siri etc.

First, the pros: pairing is a breeze, and the sound quality is good. The mount is solid, and the unit feels nicely built. Nothing wrong with any of this. Now, the cons: the usability of this device is absolutely atrocious. For one, my unit makes a rep sound between each song, IE when it changes from one track to the next. I emailed support for this, and they suggested that this was due to an iOS issue. Support suggested that this could be resolved by maxing the volume on the device and controlling volume through the stereo control.

This cycle- 20 seconds of music, two beeps, 5 seconds of silence- would repeat ad infinitum. Thus, the headline for this review: absolutely infuriating. This unit should work just fine. It has every reason to. So easy to set up , walked to the mailbox, back to car. Opened box , hooked up the cable to the cigarette lighter port , put port in car. Attached disk and put item on magnet. Put setting to aux , Bluetooth it automatically connected to item , played a song , adjusted the volume on my iPhone and viola!

I tested with my car, turning off engine, turns off ports , but I still took it out of the port , Update : suggestion for maybe a new version that may come out.

The next and back buttons should be lit for music. I drive early before sunrise to work and unable to see these buttons while driving. To be able to see these buttons in the dark would be awesome.

Update: on the drive this morning, the songs were being cut short, not sure how to fix this. The playlist is not on shuffle, even if it was, the entire song would play then shuffle on to the next song, instead every song is cut short. This is my first time playing a playlist from Spotify. Yesterday I only had one song on repeat so there were no issues.

One person found this helpful. I mainly purchased this item for multipoint use in my car. I have my iPhone SE which I use for calls, navigation, etc.

This device successfully pairs to both phones but does not reconnect to both phones automatically. I didn't work with the device long for another reason, but I did not have much luck making it connect to both devices repeatably. I had to manually add one or the other phone to the Bluetooth connection, and one time this even involved "forgetting" the device and re-pairing it on the phone. Now for the other reason for my disapproval of this device. I tried it with its original power adapter, an aftermarket one, and an isolated battery supply.

With all three, the output contained a harsh buzzing whine, which changed pitch depending on button presses and which lights were illuminated on the bluetooth device. The engine of the car was not running at the time and the presence of this sound was noted whenever the BTC was powered on.

Another bluetooth device did not produce this sound I also tried, and will be returning, the TaoTronics TT-BR04, and despite other issues, this fault was NOT observed with the TT-BR04 and I also compared the sound to the direct output of the phone which produced clean sound. For these reasons, this item is being returned. As usual, no hassle there.

I have an Mpow MBR2 on the way - so we'll see how that model compares. It works as intended, it connects right away, you can pair two devices, and the bass is as strong as ever seriously, it makes the car seem like you got a stereo upgrade The thing is, the BTC did not have this issue so why a newer model has it is beyond me.

Auto-on is great, super fast connection. My commuter is a Prius. Call Volume is a little lower than streaming, so you have to fiddle with the volume knob a bit between doing the 2 things, but that's no biggie. I assume is has to do with different Bluetooth profiles, but that's just a guess. All in all I would definitely buy this setup again.

So far so good! I recently upgraded to a Samsung S20, which has no auxiliary port so I needed to find a Bluetooth to aux.

I have a Nissan Altima. I don't have a way to hide the wires but that is not a big deal for me. It turns off and on in sync with my vehicle.

I do hear a little buzzing once in a while when listening to music but I just fiddle with the aux import and it stops, so that is not a big deal to me.

Nothing is perfect. I cannot speak much to the phone calls. When talking to my mother I asked her what she thought and she said "I don't know, I'll wait until you start driving". Little did she know I was already driving, so maybe that says something? Will update once I use the phone call feature more. But using the kinivo BTC for phone calls is not perfect. I was told it has a lot of background noise. Still love it though for the music aspect alone. It is so nice to just get in my car and have Bluetooth connect automatically and not have to connect any wires.

Mar 02,  · Kinivo’s two models, the BTC and the upgrade BTC BTC costs more but supports Multi-Poiint technology, allowing you to connect to two devices simultaneously. This is a pretty cool feature that I’m going to come back to. The compared to the is beeping too much where not needed like when moving between tracks, skipping tracks, mobile notifications, controlling volume, and unlocking the phone!! The buttons on the are not as easy to click compares to the where the multi-function button is large and center for easy access when driving. Also the comes with 12v cigarette USB charger instead of the embedded wire in the model. For sound quality and mic, didn’t notice any difference, nether the other part during calls, and Siri voice commands work the same. If you are comparing vs. , I would go all day timberlandschuheherren.des: Tags:Bitcoin sec investigation, How to get bitcoin cash from wallet, Bitcoin best seller, Historia bitcoin wikipedia, Monsanto bitcoin
